Iran bids farewell to hero firemen

A large number of people attend the funeral procession for the firefighters who lost their lives due to a collapse of the Plasco building in Iranian capital city of Tehran.

In a ceremony held Monday at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds (Mosalla), several Iranians as well as political and cultural officials paid tribute to the martyred firemen who were killed in the Plasco fall.

The iconic building, one of Tehran’s oldest high-rises, hosted several production workshops and was mostly popular for its clothing stores.

During the ceremony in Mosalla, a message issued by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was read about the martyrdom of brave Iranian fighters.

After the gathering, coffins for the martyred firefighters were carried to the neighboring streets before being transferred to a burial site in Iran's capital city.

Several people, including firefighters, lost their lives after fire engulfed the top floors of the 17-story building on January 19.
